Opies stem ginger in syrup is made from the finest young stem ginger which is carefully preserved in sugar syrup. Ideal with ice-cream or as an ingredient in recipes and home baking. It is often used in asian stir-fry recipes. Opies was founded in England in by Bennett Opie, a Cornish miner who travelled to London and set up a company supplying Cornish eggs to London markets. Over the years they expanded into glace cherries and then into an ever increasing range of pickles and preserves.
And today they are still manufacturing British pickles and preserves from the same site. Opies take great pride in the quality of their products. All their ingredients are carefully sourced and selected, and rigorous production processes are continually monitored. Note: Ingredients as listed on the label at time of publication on the website.

The ginger pieces havent been steeped for long enough I think, as, once the syrup has left your palette, youre left with a tasteless lump of ginger. I used this in a ginger and blueberry cheesecake. I used the syrup boiled up to thicken, with the blueberries and lemon juice and chopped up the ginger. I used nairns ginger oat biscuits for the base. Tastes good too so have a daily blob at breakfast. And the syrup is delicious, for sauces, over ice cream etc and even for added sweetness to spicy dishes.
Just as good as the previous brand stocked by Ocado and decent value. Get through quite a lot of this, mainly chopped up in porridge.
